A/W’18 KEY PIECES: PART I

We’re approaching my absolute fav time of year.

For dressing, especially. However. You know it – I am another one of those girls that obsesses over the change in colours, leaves falling, crisp mornings…and, of course – Hallowe’en. Obvs.

I tend to reach for the same array of items every Sept/Oct – & whilst I love to invest in new pieces, I wear the same items from years ago – or style them in new ways. I love to ‘upgrade’ a piece I’ve been loving, too. Example: first time I bought a loafer it wasn’t the Gucci one. I kinda road tested a TopShop loafer, to see how much I wore that style…then saved up for the real deal…that kinda thing. I digress…

Let’s get into some key pieces. Part I:

KILLER BOOT

Pretty much my go-to all year, but esp. Sept-Jan. For me, imperative features include: being super comfortable, warm & versatile. A snake embossed on the back is an added bonus.

Key Styles:
Gucci – Sylvie
Jeffrey Campbell – Check Lace-Up
Dr. Martens – Molly
Calvin Klein – Claire
Ganni – Callie

EASY-TO-STYLE COAT

A coat you can style with everything – it keeps you warm, can handle layers underneath, has pockets…The kinda timeless piece you’ll always wear.

Key Styles:
& Other Stories – Over-Sized
& Other Stories – Belted Wool
& Other Stories – A-Line Wool
Acne – Checked Wool

CHECKED SKIRT

Nothing says autumn like checks & plaid: nothing. A mini skirt you can go tight-less with rn, and then add tights + long socks to as the chill creeps in. Love it with a chunky boot.

Key Styles:
TopShop – Yellow Mini
TopShop – Mixed Buckle
Versace – Pleated Patchwork
Tomas Maier – Checked Cotton
Free People – High Waist Plaid
McQ Alexander McQueen – Wool-Blend
H & M – Checked Skirt

*pls don’t take these posts as ‘OMG I-need-to-go-and-buy-22813-things’, but more – how can I use what I have? Do I need or really want a new coat? Which, say, two items should I invest in? Etc, etc. Ly, bye*
