About Sammi

New York, New York

September has certainly been my month of travel.

As someone that spends a hell of a lot of time at home (a true homebody) to have New York a few days post-Paris – with a huge shoot (more on this imminently) and to-do list in-between – certainly made for a damn full schedule.

It was a total dream to be invited to New York with one of my absolute most adored beauty brands, NARS, to celebrate the launch of the new Powermatte Lipsticks.

On our first morning, we visited the iconic original Soho boutique to explore the launch – a beautiful and intimate shop that reminds you of the joy of seeing and buying make-up IRL. The next day, we saw NYC via a NARS fuelled bus tour (see below, it’s me. On a bus) and stopped for lunch in Brooklyn.

Fun fact – my dad lived in Brooklyn in the 70’s (at a time when – quite frankly – it wasn’t exactly the ultimate place to live) and I was close to being brought up in America.

Saturday’s daytime outfit: naturally wearing my hero Prada denim – truly one of my best purchases. A simple black thick strappy knit and Aritzia plaid skirt – a summer meets autumn vibe. Not forgetting my harness to tie it all together…had to represent in NY ofc.

We had two NARS evenings: a launch party and ‘proper’ sit-down dinner.

For the first night I opted for a deep v-cut latex top with a go-to pair of high waisted black trousers: I always feel best in an all black outfit – you know you know. I didn’t manage to grab any full outfit shots, but you can see the LGD video of this look over on my TT.

For the second night I contrasted the previous all black look with a mega pop of ombre colourings: it was a nail-matching moment with a beautiful mesh off-the-shoulder Mugler dress – chatty outfit vid, here.

In true me style, I also managed not to get any full outfit shots of this look (honestly…) which does seems ridiculous. However: when you’re already working on a bunch of content at the same time (vlogs, outfit videos, stories – everything across multiple platforms) and cramming in the filming and editing aspects alongside a busy schedule – you’re also talking with people, meeting new people, immersed in the moment…sometimes it’s truly not on my mind to get the outfit images. I’ll do better next time team.

SHOP THE LOOKS:

You can shop a select range of the Powermatte lipsticks here – the full collection launches in October. Standout shades imo: ‘Dragon Girl’ and ‘No Angel’.

A big thank you to the ever lovely NARS team for having me.

Paris, with YSL

It’s not everyday you’re invited to an intimate dinner in Paris with YSL Beauty, hosted by Dua Lipa.

As a huge fan of both the beauty side of YSL and the major fashion house itself, it was a dream to be offered a place on this incredible trip. With a dress code of black and gold to celebrate the Libre Le Parfum fragrance, I ordered one new piece and dug around my wardrobe to pull an outfit together.

Combining a multitude of textures as is always my favourite way to create an all black look, I put together a fitted, structured outfit that felt modern Saint Laurent appropriate – if not slightly edgier, shall we say.

Having used latex in recent collections, I ordered a perfectly cut bustier from Atsuko Kudo. After numerous emails, phone calls and candid mirror shots, the bustier was made-to-measure and now fits like a dream. I’ve ordered from AK many times over the years, and cannot recommend them enough if you’re seeking a special latex piece.

My ever faithful and loved Orseund Iris skirt accompanied the top, the structured cotton contrasting the ever shiny latex. Naturally my High Waist Harness needed a moment – I felt the brass hardware added that touch of ‘gold’ element as per the dress code. The smooth leather of the harness matched the ever iconic leather of the Westwood heels – details details details.

Completed the look with a beautifully-modern cut Jacquemus blazer, with double-zip front closure detail. With grosgrain hanging ribbon and zipped pockets, it’s going to be a timeless piece as we head into autumn/winter. The blazer choice took a turn for an ‘is this real life?’ moment when I turned around to see Jacquemus himself chatting away with Dua.

A huge thank you to YSL & a huge thank you to you – the team – for being here. Without you, none of this would be possible. Who’d have thought this heavily tattooed goth soul would be here?

Much love, always.

Sunshine Heroes

It’s been an excellent time for outfits.

Warm weather has allowed for a lack of layering and jackets – jackets may be my favourite clothing item, but it’s been a delight to have a break from them. Combining crop tops with high waisted trousers and shorts has been a standard go-to, whilst adding a plethora of colourful accessories.

I always feel it is key to recognise what you feel good in: what style of outfit makes you want to get dressed everyday? What makes you feel most like ‘you’? Personally, high waisted trousers and platform boots always win. I’m also obsessed with cuts of garments that feel best on me, and as I have been able to own more key staple pieces, I acknowledged years ago I would rather have one perfect black high-waist trouser than 10 poor fitting pairs. With this in mind, let’s get into some summer looks.

This Magda Butrym bustier worn above has been a true hero piece of the summer. The fit is tight and doesn’t allow for any slipping moments, and the denim fabric combined with strong brass back zip pleases me. It’s definitely up there as one of my most worn pieces this season and remains so versatile.

Rarely without leather and chains, I’m always reaching for my Loop Leather Belt – an everyday essential leather item for me – love it against the vibrant pink.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Oh, that Gucci Mini Jackie. Like a piece of jewellery intertwined with a bag, it really is a piece of art. Likely up there now as one of the least practical bags I own, I still just truly adore everything about it. The patent leather shine, the over-the-top logo chain strap, the closure: it all works so beautifully and seamlessly together. Debuting this summer, I feel it is going to absolutely shine with outfits come autumn/winter.

Contrasting the luxuriousness of the Jackie are my ever-loved distressed Maison Margiela jeans. Lemme tell you about the cut of these – they’re a 90’s does 2022 delight, with fitted high waist, thigh cut detail and baggy fit. May it be said that whilst I’ve never been a jeans person per-se, I have reached for these more times than I can count on more chilled outfit days; or almost to ‘tone down’ an outfit – as above.

Whilst I tend to shy away from print, there was something about the mixture of tones in this bustier on the black that really drew me in. Again, back to cut and fit; this piece fits so beautifully and feels so great to wear. This is definitely a piece I’ll still reach for as the weather cools.

SHOP THE LOOK:

The forever fail-safe, an all black outfit.

Anna Wintour and I certainly disagree on this one. There is nothing like an all black look in my opinion, and it’s one I always feel comfortable and myself in. As always with all black looks, I love combining textures and putting different black materials alongside one another. The shorts above are nylon, combined with a light knitted bralette, and bold leather harness. Three very contrasting black materials.

I’ll leave with this note: dress for yourself.

Summer No Bummer

A heatwave is upon us and I am not complaining.

A newly-found need for summer outfits for actually warm weather, for more than two days in a row, is rather unprecedented in England. Waves of “it’s too hot” can be heard from far and wide and is no doubt apparently steering many a conversation.

This leaves me to turn to my humble space on the internet and get into outfits and accessories I’ve been loving this time of year.

I take sun protection damn seriously and a summer hat (or three) is not a debate. For the last few years, I’ve been adding my own scarves around hats to add that little pop of colour and feminine quality. Yesterday I wore my Rose Garden Scarf wrapped around a wide brim hat from Lack of Color. The Rose Garden scarf is a larger size and allows the tied ends to drape beautifully at the back of a hat.

Ever versatile silk scarves and wide brim hats: an excellent summer duo.

Accessories – in general – are necessary for me when building an outfit – everything from ring stacks to cat-eye sunglasses, mixed metal chains and everything in between. Some of my current hero accessories are linked below (never ever forgetting my Ārdēo harnesses – that delicate white leather coming soon):

ACCESSORIES:

As I adore separates, tops – cropped, bustier shapes, sheer fabrics – have remained a go-to for me. Despite the somewhat ‘ease’ a summer dress can bring, I tend to feel at my best in a high-waist-something paired with a top. Below are some favourites as of late.

TOPS:

If you follow me on TikTok, you’ll note my love of a pair of denim cut-off shorts this time of year. The ease and comfort of these never fail me, despite a plethora of comments from the team not understanding how I find these comfortable. I feel they’re an item in which you need to find ‘the pair’ that’s right for you. Going back a few years, I categorically did not wear denim shorts. I didn’t feel good in them – and this is my number one criteria, outfit/item wise. Then I found a particular pair from Ksubi – and that changed everything.

A simple summer dress with a leather harness is naturally a staple – that juxtaposition between those two items will no doubt always be a winner in my eyes.

BOTTOMS & DRESSES:

If there is something evident in my dire love of fashion and style, it’s my never-ending fixation of handbags. The completion of an outfit. More than just – ‘something your stuff goes in’. Textures, colours, chains – I adore the versatility and freedom of summer bags.

There’s been a few recent delights that have perked my interest (thus, currently coveting) alongside my absolute summer staples.

FarFetch Private Sale

EDIT: as of June 15th, use code: SAMMI for 10% off orders [some brand exclusions, valid on sale items]

I’ll jump straight into this and make it abundantly clear this is not in partnership with FarFetch.

As rad as that would be, there were simply too many greats on sale for me to not post about this; especially considering I’ve taken the plunge on two items I had sitting in my FarFetch wish-list.

This is my favourite way to shop: I keep wish-lists on my favourite shopping sites, so I can take time deciding how much I desire that piece, how well I think it will pair with other items I own, and monitor or be alerted if it goes on sale. This has truly helped me curate a wardrobe I adore and lessen those ‘what do I wear?’ days.

As the caption does so clearly point out, there’s currently a private sale on FarFetch. All you need to do is create an account on the site to gain access, or simply log into your account if you already have one. Many of the sale items are current season, with brands like Bottega Veneta and Off-White.

The Rose Amongst Thorns: Sammi x TGF

Sometimes, you get the opportunity to create something you never thought possible. I felt this way when The Great Frog first approached me and we collaborated on the Rose Signet Ring. As a long term fan of the brand and knowing their collaborations are kept for the likes of Slayer and Ghost, it was a dream come true to work on and launch a special piece of jewellery.

Fast forward to last year.

I had a concept for a bracelet – incorporating both my beloved roses and mixed metals, that Reino meticulously and beautifully brought to life.

Introducing, The Rose Amongst Thorns Bracelet.

A hand-made thorn adorned stem bracelet wraps around and frames your wrist. With two intricately detailed roses sitting either side, creating a cuff bracelet effect. Both of the roses can be removed and switched up, should you choose to mix up your metals. There’s other reasons they can be removed that we’ll get to at a later date…

A gold rose in action (technical jewellery making term)

Customise the bracelet with either Solid 925 Sterling Silver or Solid 9ct Yellow Gold roses.

The bracelet can also be custom ordered with different metal thorns, making it unique to how you envisage it.

The finished bracelets.

The Rose Amongst Thorns bracelet launches online worldwide tomorrow, April 28th at 16:00 BST.

To celebrate the launch, TGF and I are hosting a special event on Friday, in their original Soho London store. I’ll be popping into TGF Soho 12:00 – 13:30pm. They’ll be bracelets ready to see, try on and purchase, without their usual lead times (which is very damn exciting).

So hope to see you there, and I so hope you love it as much as I do.

Now It’s a Holiday

We’re back.

After an epic two weeks away in America, we’re back home settling in/getting v. little sleep and trying not to to melt into a heap on the floor. As someone that very rarely goes away for anything more than 6 days, it actually felt like the perfect amount of time and really was the trip of a lifetime for us.

With the sun shining every-day of our trip, it was truly the time for some new-in pieces to shine, as well as reaching for older s/s pieces. Gimme a bralette layering with short combo anytime it’s over 25c and I’ll be stoked. It was also a delight to reach for the more summer fuelled bags in my collection far sooner than I would in the green of cloudy England.

Three holiday looks are broken down below with the items featured. Let’s go.

Forever inspired by the bumblebee, I give you this yellow & black number on day one:

These flowing trousers became a bit of a go-to whilst away, especially in the evenings. Lovely light fabric and a killer, but hyper wearable print.

Paired with two layered bralettes (yellow, Zara) and extra detail with my chain scarf.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Going bold with colour.

Nothing says 90’s Venice Beach like a bit of tie dye.

For sure my most colourful look of the trip due to the cropped sheer tee, I adding in my High Waist Leather Harness & Loop Belt for a bit of necessary edge.

SHOP THE LOOK:

The jumpsuit of all jumpsuits.

An excellent statement evening look.

This mega embroidered black sheer jumpsuit with deep v cut and puffed sleeves has a built in bodysuit and back zip closure. You may need a bathroom buddy for that zip, just sayin’.

MORE OF MY GO-TO HOLIDAY ITEMS:

A Spring in Your Step

Lighter mornings and lighter evenings have slowly but surely crept in, here in England.

Double digits (albeit often with a chilling breeze) are becoming a sight when I religiously check the weather on my phone each morning. Daffodils are springing up. The morning light is finally entering our bedroom pre-seven am.

Although we’re undoubtedly far off storing away our winter jackets (apparently people do this? I can’t seem to) I thought I’d venture into a little round up shopping post of great spring items out there. With a trip to California and Arizona coming up (fingers, toes, eye lashes crossed) I’ve also been keeping my eyes peeled for some items for the ever hopeful, two-year delayed holiday…

JACKETS:

Lighter layering, blazers, denim, chambray, leather and hues of pink need apply.

Loving acid wash denim and pretty much every Miu Miu jacket.

TOPS & KNITS:

Whilst we still need to layer up in many parts of the world, it’s out with the mega-mega chunky knits. Layer a light knit over a shirt, add a cardigan over a tee.

Big fan of cropped jumpers over here.

BOTTOMS:

Not much is gonna change here for me personally I feel for the foreseeable. Same trousers and shorts in my wardrobe, with tights, apply. Tights are still very much a must-have & bare-leg life feels a while/a million years away*. I’ve linked the absolute most durable tights within the carousel below from Sheertex, whom I proudly worked with on some sponsored content recently. I cannot recommend these tights enough. If, like myself, you’re a) a bit clumsy, 2) talons for nails are life, c) stacking jewellery is a daily must have, you have got to try these.

MY SPRING HERO ITEMS:

February, with Free People

Back at it with my favs, Free People.

This month, I’ve selected a few key items that I love to talk through – adding in some beautiful and comfortable loungewear/home pieces, too; ‘cos hey, it’s winter and we need a certain level of comfort earlier in the day, than any other time of year. Knitwear it still a key go-to for me, and will be well into April given the joy of British spring time, and the very unpredictable nature of it. There’s one mega dress in this selection, that makes for one hell of a memorable date-night piece. Let’s start with it.

With the tattooed level I am at (not something I talk about often tbh) I don’t tend to wear a lot of patterns or more ‘busy’ prints. I’m also not particularly drawn to them most of the time. When I laid eyes on this For Love & Lemons maxi dress, with detailed embroidered floral patterning, a mesh layering and deep front cut; I wondered if it might be too much for me, but decided to give it a whirl.

Paid Partnership with Free People

To say it’s a dream to wear is accurate: the fit is close, the mesh layering with built-in bodysuit subtly alluring. I’m totally sold, and so look forward to wearing this on a (rare, most likely with our son along for the eve) date night. Edge it up with leather accessories, or let the dress do the talking and keep it simple. Also debating the need for the black.

SHOP THE DRESS:

A cashmere jumper with faux leather trousers is an easy going, but hey, I still made an effort, weekend kinda-look.

The Poppy turtleneck in black has been a staple for me this winter and with my eyeballs loving colour as of late, the pastel yellow had to happen. It’s an incredibly soft, easy to layer soft turtleneck with hem details. The kind of item you reach for on those ‘what shall I wear?’ days. I love pairing mine over a bodysuit on days when you need a bit of extra warmth.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Staying in, reaching for cute sets.

This little knitted bralette and short set is ridiculously cute…And that’s not a word I use often. With a vintage floral inspired pattern, they’re perfect for lounging around when you wanna feel damn good, and can also most definitely be layered for daytime wear. Ultra-soft knit, the shorts are high-rise and both items have ribbed trimming details. The set can be purchased separately – I found the sizing to be true and went with XS.

ALL MY CURRENT FP PIECES:

The Recent Outfits

Is it too late to say ‘happy new year’ when we’re already in February?

The answer is most likely, however HNY nonetheless.

It’s been a damn busy time working on a hell of a lot of content, and needless to say a damn fun time, too. Posting my daily TikTok videos via my ‘Let’s Get Dressed’ concept, has, in-fact, become a ‘thing’. Needless to say, the combination of content for Instagram, content for TikTok, running a brand, working on brand collaborations and contracts with my ever lovely agent, led to the blog not being updated in January.

Let’s kick the first post of 2022 off with some recent outfits & looks.

The last year or so has seen me wear more colour than ever before. As someone that preaches an ‘all black everything’ kinda ethos, I’ve surprised even myself with this sudden love of colour pops. I’m really feeling it.

Combining my usual deeply routed love of greys and blacks in a mixture of textures, and then focusing on one particular colour or colour spectrum has been really pleasing my eyeballs. Knitwear is a natural go-to in England in winter, but opting for bold colour choices has made me smile on intense grey January days. This bold pink Isabel Marant jumper vest I picked up in the MyTheresa sale can be layered with ease thanks to the open sides and sleeveless nature – I adore this shade paired with a light grey.

The ever-sought after Miu Miu logo-band trousers are now considered an iconic staple in my wardrobe, having worn them throughout summer and winter. They’re not going anywhere.

Shorts remain a winter go-to for me, despite any passive aggressive internet backlash (lol). Tights and knee high socks have been ever faithful friends.

SHOP THE LOOKS:

…And now we’re into the black looks.

Texture is everything when I choose to go for the all black/black dominant looks.

Combining faux-leather with nylon [as above] has to be one of my ultimates. It’s not an expected combination. Prada wins when it comes to nylon, and their Re-Nylon collection has been one of my favourites within the abundant fashion landscape of the last few years. The shapes, wearability and utilitarian aspects of this collection appeal to me greatly.

Alongside the looks, I’ve linked a selection of my favourite all black pieces below.

Happy styling in 2022: wear what you love.
